does the DelWeg database and searching work?
The information you submit in the fields for Work Category, Geographic Area,
Company Name, Website Address, and Description of service/products is saved
in a database. When a visitor to DelWeg Search enters words or phrases in the
corresponding fields, the entire DelWeg database is searched and if a match is found
all the data you submitted about your website is displayed in a Results page
much like you would see from Google.
The search provided at the DelWeg Database is a fixed Boolean search. If the user makes multiple selections in a selection box, they are joined using the OR operator. All other joins are formed using the AND operator. Some examples will illustrate how the Boolean Operators are used based on the entries of the searcher.
Suppose the searcher selects both Construction and Trainer in the Work category list box, selects Canada in the Geographic Area list box, and enters "concrete corrosion" in the Description of service/products. The Boolean search will be performed for all companies which satisfy:
(contstruction OR trainer) AND canada AND concrete corrosion
with the additional restriction that (construction OR trainer) must be found in the field for Work Category, canada must be found in the field for Geographic Area, and concrete corrosion must be found in the Description of service/products.
